Below is our interview with Lorena Morales:

Introduce yourself to our audience. Tell us who you are and what you are currently focused on.

I am currently the VP of Marketing at Go Nimbly, the first company to help SaaS businesses implement Revenue Operations.

I am also a skillful storyteller and relationship-builder and uses these skills in my approach to both marketing and leadership, which have allowed me to grow teams for the past seven years.

In the interest of making the most of every minute, I have lived and worked in several countries around the world, as well as earned Masters degrees in International Marketing and Strategic Design Management, which have served me to understand my customers through a different lens-  design thinking and service design.

How did your journey lead you to your current endeavors?

I think understanding that, in order to stay in this country, I would have to work 3x or more than the regular marketer led me to gain my managers’ trust and, therefore, to end up in the amazing world of SaaS. I believe it has been a combination of taking every opportunity in my way without hesitation and putting in the work needed to succeed.

What are some things you wish you knew when you first became a leader?

The major lesson from me has been to master the art of deeply connecting with people. That not only takes time but a lot of effort in genuinely caring about the person you have in front of you at the humane level. What are their motivations, sufferings, and peel the onion deep enough to understand that every brain is an entirely different world.

I wish I knew that tolerance would be the most valuable skill today and ever- that way, I would have started my own introspection journey around this decades ago.

What advice do you have for people looking to become revenue leaders?

Don’t be afraid to try different things to become a T-shaped person. Defend your value with every single jump in your career, and do not let people control the narrative of your past experiences both as a professional and as a person. Also, learn to be respectful of people’s time and don’t dare to waste a single minute of your or other’s time.

What gets you out of bed every morning?

The idea that I get to play a part in shaping people’s potential into something bigger and better. Also, I live and breathe by design. Knowing that finding beauty in things is one of my strongest suits makes me get up with the best of intentions for that day.

What would you say your personal superpower is?

Learning. Whatever it is whenever I have the chance to. Of course, this applies to human behaviors as well, not only tangible knowledge.

Why should other revenue professionals join RevGenius?

Because there’s nothing but interesting people in it, trying to make successful careers by genuinely helping each other. Community in the current living situation is more important than ever, and finding your allies will determine how well you jump to the ‘new normal’.’ I have found a lot of that at RG!
